Jurney to the Abyss- new tourism developments in Lovasi and its region

The Municipality of Lovászi, as the lead beneficiary, has successfully applied for the Interreg V-A Hungary-Croatia Cooperation Programme’s grant entitled “Joint tourism development with traditional energy-industrial themes on the Hungarian and Croatian sides of the triple border area (ENERGY TOUR)”.

Within the framework of the project, the Municipality of Lenti, the Municipality of Gosztola and the Municipality of Mursko Središće from neighbouring Croatia have implemented energy-themed cultural-tourist developments as consortium partners.

As part of the development of the bunker, the interactive exhibition was completed, and improvements were made to the infrastructure of the exhibition, including architectural, electrical and mechanical work on the corridor leading to the southern entrance, as well as the command and hospital rooms.

The aim of the project is to create a unique interactive exhibition in the depths of the site, which will not only show the origins of the oil but also the life of the settlement and the airfield during the Cold War, and the local history of 1956. Thanks to the visual and sound effects, visitors can gain insight into emergency protocols, providing a unique experience for visitors. Once the project has been completed, the part of the airfield affected by the present renovation will be open to the public for guided tours.

The point improvements made as part of the project will ensure a meaningful stay in the area.
